Online Coupons for an Online World
I’m sure many of you can relate to what I’m about to say: you can remember as a child your mom clipping coupons from the Sunday paper to do her shopping for the week. Buying things in bulk if needed, or even things not typically purchased, to save a few pennies on this or that. Fast forward to 2016 and maybe now you are the parent clipping coupons, but this time, there is no actual cutting involved. Now-a-days, we save money on items through virtual coupons. Things like Groupon Discount Codes allow us to try new restaurants, explore new towns, and purchase items from smaller to larger businesses.
There has been some debate surrounding these and other types of online coupons and many can see them as a help and a hinder. In my opinion as a consumer, I see them as a huge help to businesses, especially those who have an online presence of which I can purchase. Take Debenhams for example. Debenhams is a department store located in the United Kingdom, but since they have such an online presence, it is available to anyone worldwide. And with Groupon Discount Codes, it is available to everyone at a great discounted price! That sounds like a win-win if I’ve ever heard one.
Some may argue to the contrary that people would still shop at the store or restaurant with or without the coupon, thereby having the business lose money by utilizing the online-coupon craze. I would have to argue that to not be true since I plan a lot of my shopping, dining, and traveling by what gives me the most bang for my buck. So, online coupon: friend or foe? My vote is friend for all parties involved: the business gets a new customer, possibly with a lifelong commitment. And the consumer gets a great deal on a great product.
